A squad of German and UK scientists has established that a nasal spray has the ability, to make men become more empathetic towards other person’s feelings.
They observed that, if men inhale the cuddle hormone, oxytocin, they tend to become more empathetic, just as women.
The researchers stated that the spray might prove to be useful for enhancing behavior therapy, particularly in conditions, such as schizophrenia.
Oxytocin is a hormone that is naturally produced by the body, and which is recognized for increasing labor pains and building a stronger bond between, mother and her baby.
It has also been seen to have played a major role in social relations, trust and sex.
Study leader, Professor Keith Kendrick, a neuroscientist at Cambridge University, stated that by giving the hormone through the nasal passage, it rapidly reaches the brain.
While conducting the study, half of the men volunteers were given oxytocin spray and the rest were given a dummy spray.
Those men, who received the hormone spray, showed higher levels of empathy, which is similar to that of a woman, while the ones that had not been given the hormone spray, showed less amount of empathy.
