It was seen that in yesterday’s annual meeting, APN News & Media Director Cameron O'Reilly got re-elected by the shareholders.
BKK Partners, the former federal treasurer's corporate advisory firm has brought up concerns over independence and an over depiction of directors associated with major shareholder.
A protest was lodged by APN shareholders against Mr. O'Reilly who is the son of media mogul Sir Tony O'Reilly and older brother of APN chairman and INM Chief Executive Gavin O'Reilly.
Cameron O'Reilly shared that it will be really insulting if it is not laughable, while he was concerned about the ''valid concerns'' of shareholders.
He said, “Just because brothers share the same last name does not mean they think or vote the same way, whether that last name is O'Reilly or Costello”.
Gavin O'Reilly questioned the motivations of Costello and BKK Chairman, Alastair Walton and expressed that the report was flawed and had factual inaccuracies. After a disappointing 2009, the company was on the track of a strong year, according to APN Chief Executive, Brendan Hopkins. He shared that the main aim this year is revenue growth.
