Last month at the 2010 New York Auto Show, Kia introduced its redesigned 2011 Optima. Now, Inside Line has pictures of the new Optima sedan less two doors. This shape can become the Optima coupe.
The 2011 Kia Optima sedan is longer lower and wider than the outgoing model, as it is built on a new platform. It has newly stretched proportions that make it more attractive in the coupe form.
The same powertrain choices available for the Optima sedan will be offered by an Optima coupe. The car's wheelbase has been stretched by 75 mm to 2,794 mm and it has two new engines with a six-speed automatic transmission.
The base 2.4L gasoline direct injection four develops 200 hp, while 274 hp is delivered by the up-level turbo 2.0L four-cylinder. It comes with an optional six-speed automatic with shift paddles on the steering wheel.
A rewarding turn of speed is delivered by a refined combination of 2.4L engine and six-speed automatic. The all-wheel-drive system is very good at controlling unnecessary wheelspin, in spite of heavy rainfall.
The 2011 Optima sedan will be arriving in dealers, later this fall and a coupe version may follow after a period of one year.
