The Department of Energy today revealed that the retail price of all grades of petrol will register a rise by 14 cents per liter next month.
In addition, wholesale price of diesel with 0.05% sulphur content would witness a rise by 29.5 cents a liter along with illuminating paraffin (Wholesale increasing by 30 cents and SMNRP increasing by 41 cents).
Also, the wholesale price of illuminating paraffin would mark a jump by 30 cents a litre, while the single maximum national retail price for illuminating paraffin would rise by 41 cents a litre.
Shedding light on the reason for the rise, the Department of Energy posted that the rise is backed by the hike in international product prices of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin, during 31 March 2010 to 29 April 2010.
However, the average rand/dollar exchange rate for the same period reported was R7.3749/$ contrasted to R7.4753/$ posted in the previous period.
Moreover, transport tariffs for petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin is slated to come into effect on 5 May 2010. Prices will differ between magisterial districts.
