A new service is being provided to the motorists in Auckland in which they would be given additional information to make decisions about their travel.
It was told by the New Zealand Transport Agency that around 250 electronic message signs would be on the motorway ramps from tomorrow onwards.
With the help of the signs the motorists would be able to know the three key destinations and the estimated time to get there.
It was told by Tommy Parker who is the Auckland State Highways Manager that the NZTA was aiming on being practical in improving the conditions of traffic flows and safety.
"The signs will encourage motorists to make informed decisions about their journey time and their preferred route, and they will be really useful for commuters travelling to and from the city. They also help improve traffic flows and provide more predictable travel times", said Mr. Parker.
Parker also mentioned that in the next three months the signs would gradually roll out.
He also informed that the travel time signs would function from the NZTA's new Traffic Operations Centre at Smales Farm in Takapuna. It was formally commissioned last Friday on 30 April.
