Microsoft, Bungie release multiplayer beta of ‘Halo: Reach’

Reach’The multiplayer beta version of ‘Halo: Reach,’ which was released by Microsoft and Bungie on Monday, May 3, feels quite like the Halo most gamers are familiar with; but is packed with some big gameplay changes and boasts amazing new arsenal.

The beat will last till May 19, and will be accessible by gamers via game discs from an earlier version of the Halo franchise, Halo 3: ODST. In addition, beta codes have already been scored by some people in a number of contests, including a contest held by CNET News.

The ‘Halo: Reach’ game for the Microsoft Xbox 360 gaming console will hit the stores in fall this year; and will apparently be the last game in the sci-fi series to be designed by the Halo franchise creator Bungie.

The ‘Halo: Reach’ multiplayer beta reveals that the game will essentially put the gamers back into the shimmering suits of the Spartans, in the pre-Master Chief period. Nonetheless, the game still manages to be a fast-paced, run-and-gun game, featuring short respawn times, to put the unskilled players right back into the game after they bite the bullet. Packed with four “loadouts,” the game unfolds unparalleled fun associated with playing a bad guy, the Covenant Elite.

Similar to ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’ system, ‘Halo: Reach’ allows players to earn “commendations” by winning matches and succeeding in specific in-game feats.
