In an attempt to give a robust update to its flagship handset ‘MyTouch 3G’, T-Mobile USA has hired a 20-member software development team for its forthcoming MyTouch 3G Slide – the June-scheduled handset featuring a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
Noting that, with a number of Android-based phones hitting the market, it is the hardware of the device that needs to make a distinguishing mark, T-mobile’s MyTouch 3G Slide, manufactured by HTC, largely aims at delivering a polished experience for the users, and becoming more social and helpful than its predecessor.
The key features of T-Mobile’s MyTouch 3G Slide - which will also boast, along with the ability to run seven panes from the home screen – include a 3.4 inch HVGA touchscreen; 5-megapixel camera; a built-in 8 GB microSD card, upgradable to 32 GB; and an optical joy stick that will replace the trackball.
In addition, the Slide handset – to be available in three colors, namely black, white, and red - will also feature full Microsoft Exchange support; Swype for easy text input; and free turn-by-turn navigation via Android 2.1 OS.
Furthermore, the three notable additions to the Slide will include - Faves Gallery, to allow users to connect to their 20 favorite contacts; the myModes feature boasting up to 10 modes that can be automatically changed; and the Genius Button that allows the users to control the handset via voice commands.
