Abode’s Garrett: Creative Suite tools will not be impacted by Abode-Apple conflict

apple-adobe.Against the backdrop of the much-intensified conflict between Apple and Abode Systems, a Monday statement made by Abode’s Chief Financial Officer Mark Garrett conveyed that the company’s potential customers will not be affected by Abode’s ongoing scuffle with Apple over the use of its ‘Flash’ technology on Apple products.

Going by a transcription of the remarks, Garrett, talking Abode’s flagship product - the Flash-integrated Creative Suite bundle - said at the JMP Securities Research Conference in San Francisco: “We don't think there is going to be an impact to our Creative Suite tools as a result of this change from Apple.”

Garrett’s remark comes in response to Apple CEO Steve Jobs’ criticism of the Abode Flash software, and Apple’s recently-made changes to its developers’ terms for its iPhone and iPad devices – whereby the use of Flash for designing sites and services has been prohibited.

While Jobs has called Abode’s Flash an outdated and unreliable platform for mobile devices, Garrett said that, as a result of Apple’s new developers’ terms, the developers for iPhone and iPad apps will now have to use two “workflows” - one to “create content for the Apple devices, and one to create content for everything else.”

Meanwhile, Abode has shifted its focus to other platforms, especially the Google Android - for which it is shipping the Flash Player 10 in June.
