Close on the heels of Friday’s unofficial confirmation of LittleBigPlanet 2 - the sequel to the much popular award-winning game LittleBigPlanet -, Sony officially confirmed the existence of the game in its Monday post on the PlayStation blog. The game will be released exclusively for Sony’s PS3 gaming console.
Sony said that LittleBigPlanet 2 will enable the players to create not only game levels, but also games themselves. The sequel will also be backwards compatible with the original game; thereby allowing players to access all online levels created earlier.
In addition, Sony also said that the sequel will include bonus levels which will support the PlayStation Move navigation controller.
Moreover, LittleBigPlanet 2 will boast a new storyline; an overhauled graphics engine; new accessories and equipment for Sackboy; as well as fresh gameplay mechanics that will add to the level of control and customization.
The LittleBigPlanet sequel will also include the implementation of a new CREATE mode, which will enable players to reset the control buttons for any object as well as to change the rules to any level.
The incorporation of new multiplayer abilities will further give life meters and scoring to the games created on LittleBigPlanet 2; along with a number of other elements that will help advance the types of games available for a multiplayer experience, including sports, action/adventure, and puzzle games.
