With the stupendous success of the Apple iPad tablet having lured many a competitor to the promising tablet device arena, Apple partners are, in particular, anxious about the potentially threatening competition from the reported Google-Verizon tablet.
The implicit confirmation about the likelihood of a Google-Verizon tablet computer came from none other than the Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam, who told The Wall Street Journal earlier this week that his company is exploring quite a few opportunities for working with Google.
Given the fact that Google and Verizon have already been working together on Android mobile devices like the HTC Droid, some Apple partners believe that a partnership between the two companies has the potential to affect other markets.
Noting that the basic ingredient of Apple’s success has been the ability to make the market aware about the value proposition of its products, David Doyle - Vice President of Vancouver-based Apple partner Simply Computing – is of the opinion that such ability has also already been exhibited by Verizon and Google.
Despite the fact that creating an iPad-like demand for the Google-Verizon tablet may be an uphill task for the two companies, Marc Wolfe, CEO of the Nashville, Tenn.-based Apple specialist Proactive, said: “Verizon would love to add an exciting ‘big win’ to its arsenal. Google’s strategy of open source is very appealing to developers who don’t want to deal with Apple’s hurdles, delays and pricing model.”
