Drink beetroot juice to boost stamina and endurance

Recent study indicated that beetroot juice can help in energizing. Researchers found that the beetroot juice can boost physical stamina and increase exercise endurance by up to 16 percent.

The research team led by Andy Jones, a professor in the University of Exeter's School of Sport and Health Sciences analyzed data collected from eight men aged 19 to
38.

The study subjects were asked to drink 500 milliliters of organic beetroot juice a day for six consecutive days. Then the endurance and stamina of participants was tested through a series of bike exercises.

Then study subjects were asked to drink 500 milliliters of a placebo of blackcurrant cordial. They were again put through the series of bike exercises.

Data analysis revealed that the men were able to cycle for 11.25 minutes on average, 92 seconds longer than when consuming the placebo drink.

Research team believes that nitrate in beetroot juice increases stamina by turning nitrate in beetroot juice into nitric oxide in the body, reducing oxygen uptake and increasing physical endurance.

The team asserts that nitrate in beetroot juice reduces oxygen uptake and may benefit endurance athletes, elderly people and those with cardiovascular, respiratory or metabolic diseases.
