It was seen lately that a study was conducted on 26 children who were one and two day old. The Telegraph showed that the babies took in the stimuli when they were awake and sleeping.
An experiment was conducted by the University of Florida where the abilities of the babies were tested by the scientists to respond to their surroundings by playing a song and then blowing air softly on their eyelids when they were sleeping.
It was seen that approximately most of the babies started squeezing their eyes tighter after 20 minutes of the experiment.
It was informed by Psychologist, Dana Byrd that this form of sleep did not happen when older kids or adults were sleeping.
"Newborn infants' sleep patterns are quite different to those of older children or adults in that they show more active sleep where heart and breathing rates are very changeable", said Byrd.
From the first experiment it was seen that the learning happened when newborns are sleeping. It was told by Byrd that the findings of this study could be used to recognize babies who have developmental disorders like dyslexia and autism.
The results were published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
