Macquarie Street to Become a Live Canvas

Macquarie Street to Become a Live CanvasAs part of a new project, architects are working in Australia to give historic Macquarie Street a 21st-century makeover. It will include seven landmark buildings, including Parliament House, St Mary's Cathedral and The Mint, into living canvases.

After preparing these designs, they will be projected on building facades with the help of industrial projectors. This event follows the last year's Smart Light Sydney Light Walk which featured light sculptures in the city. The success of the event was a big surprise for the organizers.

The event being held this year will be called Macquarie Visions and will be a part of Vivid Sydney. It is being stressed that this event will take architectural projection to new heights in Australia.

The concept of large-scale projections on to historic buildings originated in France in the early 1950s. These shows remained popular in Europe and used chateaux, churches, castles and even the pyramids at Giza in Egypt.

The show will begin from St. Mary's Cathedral, whose foundation was laid by Macquarie in the year 1821. It will also tell about his important role in designing urban spaces and public buildings. It will also feature Hyde Park Barracks called Fair Go.

It will take artists nearly four weeks to prepare a nine-minute presentation. It is expected that the event will be especially liked by tourists as well as local residents.
