Georgia Gears Up For the New Season of Swine Flu

Georgia Gears Up For the New Season of Swine FluHaving dealt with swine flu in the past, Georgia Officials claim that this year they are all geared up for the coming season of swine flu.

According to the reports, Georgia witnessed an unexpected rise in the cases of swine flu in late February and March when the virus was quiet across the country.

The earlier swine flu cases had petered out, as just in time to worry about the outbreak in summer camps and vaccine the kids for next school year.

To tackle the flu, officials are urging the people to get vaccinated for summer camps and gear up to face the next flu season.

According to the reports, officials are concerned that swine flu may suffer public indifference and the number of cases might accelerate.

Pat O’Neal, the State Chief of Emergency Preparedness says, “We are hoping the public becomes more interested”.

Reports claim that the State officials are worried that the new shipments of swine flu vaccine were not expected until late August. This time would be weeks after the school season in Georgia would commence. It is generally seen that the diseases pass easily between students and this is major concern as the young have the strongest impact of swine flu.

Denying the worries of a shortfall, Pat O’Neal, claims that the state had maintained an adequate amount of vaccine that was left over from the last year.

According to the reports, the flu vaccinations this year would be available through doctors, other health providers and to a degree with the county clinics. But from this year a minimal cost would be attached with the vaccine in most cases.
