Many to Walk Down San Mateo Fairgrounds

Many to Walk Down San Mateo FairgroundsTens of thousands of people were witnessed to walk down the San Mateo Fairgrounds on Saturday marking the fifth annual Maker Faire, the world's largest DIY, or do-it-yourself, festival that features the Bay Area.

The event showcased everything from rocket ships to robots, model trains to Lego cities, large kinetic sculptures to Oakland's world-famous "scraper" bikes.

The event drew families with young children, hard-core engineers and garage hobbyists. Organizers cite that 95,000 people will attend the event this weekend.

It is posed that 600 plus inventors and artists showcased their inventions this year, with many are repeat exhibitors. The life-size "Mousetrap" game — an interactive kinetic sculpture atop a 6,500-square-foot game board — was back.

"We've got about 14 cupcakes here this year," quoted, Solberg, who by day is an engineer for Tesla Motors and who spent much of Saturday in a "chocolate" cupcake with painted ping-pong balls as sprinkles. "We love to see people's reactions, and everyone is smiling”.

The exhibits organized in large event halls or outside, and the voluminous things to witness made it easy to get overwhelmed.
