The Premier says that Queensland companies are part of the final three consortiums in the operation for the contract to construct and run the Gold Coast fast transportation project.
Anna Bligh says that the groups, GC Connect, GoldlinQ and Move GC, comprise worldwide firms with knowledge in operating light rail systems in European and Asian capitals.
She says that a lot of the Australian companies in the groups are Queensland-based.
She said, "EDI, for example, is based in Maryborough, all of the consortia have both Queensland and Australian companies but they all have an international partner because this is an Australian first".
She added that they have gone global to search for the proficiency in regards of design and working, but it will be Australian and Queensland organizations that do the construction and the employment.
Queensland Transport Minister, Rachel Nolan says that the corporation, which will construct and run the project, will be disclosed by the end of the year.
She said that these are all firms who are operating famous and successful light rail systems in main international cities.
She added that they have solid monetary support. These three short-listed suitors will be subjected to thorough evaluation by the project squad and by the end of this year, they will pick a winner.
