With the Droid turning out to be a smash hit for Motorola, the buzz has it that the successor of the Droid is apparently on the cards - and the company has been codenamed it `Shadow.'
The success of the Motorola Droid, which was virtually the pioneer of the high-profile Droid line of handsets, is evident from the fact that the Android-based handset sold one million units after its release in the 2009 first quarter.
Going by the reports, just like the Droid, its successor, Shadow, will also be a `Verizon exclusive' device; and will boast features that will essentially be among the best features available in the mobile handset market.
Shadow will likely run the Android 2.2 `Froyo' version - the latest version of the Google Android operating system - and will feature the tethering capability; as well as the ability whereby the handset can be converted into a wireless hotspot. However, there has been no disclosure about whether Adobe's Flash Player 10.1 will run on the Shadow.
Furthermore, according to tech blog Gizmodo, the other notable features of the Shadow handset will include - a 4.3-inch display; a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor; 16 GB of internal storage; an 8-megapixel camera with 720p video shooting ability; and an HDMI port.
