Facebook CEO unveils one-click option for privacy settings

Facebook CEO unveils one-click option for privacy settingsIn response to a flurry of complaints about how difficult it had become for Facebook users to determine as level as control levels of protection, the social networking site’s founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg Wednesday unveiled new one-click options that will enable users to protect their privacy.

To be rolled out over the coming few weeks, the one-click option will largely imply that users can block third-party sites from tapping into their personal Facebook profile with a single click.

In addition, a similar one-click option will enable users to prevent the unauthorized tapping of users’ information by the applications on Facebook. As a result of the changes, users will be able to avail simpler options related to the people who can access their personal data.

The changes that Facebook will bring to the privacy settings come in the wake of the increasing scrutiny of the privacy practices, of Facebook as well as other Internet biggies like Google, by the regulators in the US as well as Europe.

Noting that new privacy settings happen to be the key focus area of the company at present, with engineers and designers racking their brains to do the needful, Zuckerberg acknowledged during the course of a recent interview: “We don't pretend that we are perfect. We try to build new things, hear feedback and respond with changes to that feedback all the time.”
