Churchill Square- the Place Where All the Skaters Flock To

Churchill Square- the Place Where All the Skaters Flock ToFollowing the announcement of the opening of a new temporary skateboard park in Churchill Square at 102A Avenue, the skaters are elated.

Reports confirm that the new skateboard park would be open till 30Sept and would be subject to temporary closures as well as relocations due to the events in the square that take place throughout the summer. The approximate costing of the park for the equipment and programming is estimated at $26,000.

The new base for the skaters would provide them with a place where they would be able to ride downtown without the fear of being slapped with a ticket.

One of the skaters who visited the park was extremely impressed with the facilities that are being provided at the park.

Commenting on the new park, Matt Dunn, who is the city's skateboard co-ordinator, said that the city boasted of more skate parks than there were in other Canadian cities.

According to John Kennedy, who has been a skateboarder for the past six years said that the park would provide the riders with a vivacious environment.

Deputed as city staff that would supervise the park, John Kennedy said that he would act like a skateboarding lifeguard.

Appreciating the initiative of providing a base for the skaters, he also said that, "The cultural diversity downtown is way different than a park in Clareview next to a mall".
