"A Zero Tolerance for This Menace”, says Williams Lake

Marijuana-RCMPAfter having discovered what they described as a large, sophisticated marijuana growing farm on a rural property near Williams Lake, the police is said to have arrested five men on Friday.

The farm, in the Spokin Lake area, had 9,000 plants worth an estimated $5 million in an outbuilding powered by two large diesel generators worth about half a million dollars, police said.

It was the third large bust by RCMP in recent days.

On Thursday, police uncovered an enormous grow-up near Prince George and said it could be the largest ever found in the province. It had 18,000 plants worth $2 million. Bing Lung Wong, 37, of Vancouver and two Quebec residents, Ye Zhi Qiang, 41, and Khue Ba Vu, 37 are the ones Charged with production for the purpose of trafficking

The week before, police located a large grow-op on a rural property two hours northwest of Quesnel and reachable by logging roads only. An RCMP news release at the time said the seizure of 10,000 marijuana plants and $175,000 worth of equipment was a result of an investigation that started a year and a half ago. Four men were arrested.

Williams Lake RCMP say there are likely many more grow-ops in outlying rural communities and encouraged members of the public to have "a zero tolerance for this menace”.
