A new regulatory structure for airports has been proposed by the Commerce Commission. It stressed that this is a big milestone in setting up a new system for airports. It confirmed that it has published draft decisions and reasons that would be used for information disclosure requirements for airports. It has also released its draft information disclosure requirements and associated reasons.
These new measures will be applied to specified airport services supplied by various Companies who are operating Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington International Airports.
Mark Berry, Commerce Commission Chairman confirmed that international experts were consulted for providing views on what he maintains is a totally new regime. After another round of submissions and cross-submissions, it will issue its final decisions on December 31. It will also consist of information disclosure for airports by January 1.
