That chip giant Intel has quite a lot planned for 2010 became evident from the tech blog Engadget’s recent disclosure of the details about the forthcoming processors from the company this year.
Going by the report from Engadget – which uncovered and published Intel’s roadmap detailing the company’s complete lineup for fall this year -, along with several new chips that Intel will launch in the 2010 fourth quarter, there will also be launches of 35-watt processors and the 15-watt “Consumer Ultra-Low Voltage” (CULV) processors.
According to Engadget, the forthcoming 35-watt processors from Intel will include the following chips: the 2.26 GHz / 3.33-GHz Core i7-940XM; the 1.86-GHz / 3.20-GHz Core i7-840QM; the 1.73-GHz / 2.93-GHz Core i7-740QM; the 2.8-GHz / 3.46-GHz Core i7-640M; the 2.66-GHz / 3.33-GHz Core i5-580M; and 2.66-GHz / 3.2-GHz Core i5-560M.
While the Core i7-940XM, Core i7-840Qm, and i7-740QM will be quad-core chips; the Core i7-640M, Core i5-580M, and Core i5-560M will be dual-core chips.
About the CULV processors, Engadget reported that five of these dual-core designs – ranging from the 2.26-GHz Core i7-660LM to the 1.33-GHz Core i5-560UM - will likely hit the markets in the fourth quarter. These 32-nanometer chips will basically a stopgap from Intel, till the future “Huron River” series of processors hit the stores in the 2011 first quarter.
