According to a new mobile phone recycling scheme, mobile phone users will be paid for their old and unwanted handsets. The website Money4Mobiles. co. nz buys unwanted phones and on-sells those to budding as well as developing nations.
Money4Mobiles. co. nz Director John Wilson said, "There are around 1.8 million unused mobile phones gathering dust in cupboards and drawers within New Zealand alone". The New Zealanders will get the opportunity to help stop dangerous waste ending up in landfills, with this scheme. Moreover, this scheme will be able to provide developing countries with an inexpensive access to mobile phones, in addition to simultaneously making cash.
There is a step-by-step guide, which is provided by the website to recycle the mobile for cash. Prices vary from $1 for old phones and go up to $512. The website promises to make the payment within five working days.
The phones which are beyond repair will be used for parts. About 75% of all the phones received will be recycled, claims the Company.
Money4Mobiles Director John Wilson shared that there are about 2.5 million unused mobile phones in New Zealand, which may pose a serious threat to environment if they were not recycled and were thrown away.
