A report by the Australian Bureau of Statistics has revealed that the position of Indigenous unemployment in Australia is not very good. It has revealed that the number of Indigenous people with jobs has decreased from 57% in the year 2006 to 51% last year.
It was also found that the unemployment rate was at 18% and the participation of the labor force has also been decreasing. The report highlighted that unemployment increased by almost a third in the last one year alone.
The report also pointed out that Indigenous women have been hit harder due to increase in the unemployment rates as compared to men.
It revealed that even though unemployment levels have increased across the country, people living in regional and remote areas have been hit hardest by the increase in the unemployment levels.
