With most of the details next-generation iPhone - which Apple is very likely to release at its next-week-scheduled Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco - having already been leaked prematurely, Apple faces an unusual situation of retaining the ‘wow’ factor related to its new product release.
Since the ‘leaked’ next-generation iPhone 4G is expected to be one of the key highlights of Steve Jobs’ Monday keynote at the WWDC, industry watchers are busy speculating what new surprises will Jobs come up with to captivate the audience.
Thanks to the ‘lost’ iPhone saga, the details of the iPhone prototype leaked by Gizmodo already include most of the hardware features of the device - its better display; new block-like design; faster processor; bigger battery, and a front-facing camera.
According to Gartner analyst Ken Dulaney, though the new iPhone 4G will “probably be more or less identical” to the Gizmodo-leaked prototype, it was possible that Apple may mix up the release of the iPhone with new iPhones of different sizes.
Some other analysts also opine that Apple may pull a fast one at the event by releasing a new iPhone which may feature a notably larger touchscreen than the nearly 3.5-inch screen on the prototype – a likelihood that stems from the fact that bigger touchscreen devices like the HTC HD2 and Dell Streak will be hitting the market.
