Facebook rolls out new Privacy Page to serve as an open discussion forum

Facebook rolls out new Privacy Page to serve as an open discussion forumWith the roll out of its new Facebook and Privacy Page, the privacy-issues-plagued social networking company has apparently attempted to quash the backlash that it has been facing as a result of its contentious privacy policy changes.

The new Privacy Page, to be available to the "majority" of Facebook users, has been designed to serve as a wide-ranging online resource and open discussion forum, which will enable users to post questions or complaints pertaining to the site's privacy settings in particular and its overall privacy status in particular.

Along with serving as an interactive discussion forum, the new page will also host updates on new content, products and news stories about online privacy, which will include links to the site's privacy guide, FAQ, and video tutorials.

Noting that Facebook had added new ways to allow its users to conveniently control the information that they share, Simon Axten, a Facebook public policy team manager, said in a blog post: "Sharing and connecting are at the core of how Facebook works, and people share more when they understand what they're sharing and know how to control their experience on Facebook."

Moreover, in addition to the roll out of the new Privacy Page, has also launched a new video in its "Learn More" series, thereby providing a "how to" guide related to sharing of personal information and the new controls on users' privacy settings page.
