The advertising revenue for the metropolitan commercial radio industry inclined 7.66% in May. The month of April did not witness a good business but in May, ad revenue elevated to $56.09 million.
The figures were released by industry body, Commercial Radio Australia, today.
According to the released figures, Sydney market experienced the sharpest heave of 8.9% to $17.65m for the month of May, while the Melbourne market, which experienced the launch of the heavily-subscribed new AM station, Melbourne Talk Radio MTR1377, increased 7.55% to $17.18m.
The reports saying that the joint venture station between Macquarie Radio and Pacific Star might split even in its first month were taken with "its strong on-air ad inventory".
Also, the Brisbane commercial radio ad market was up 7.79% from the same period last year, to $8.97m.
Adelaide rose 7.64% to $5.36m and Perth gained 4.59% for a $6.93m total.
Revenue growth for the commercial radio industry ad revenue was 7.71% in the first quarter of 2010.
Expressing her satisfaction over the constant growth, Chief Executive Officer of Commercial Radio Australia, Joan Warner, said that monthly multiplication in the revenue since November last year, although, is very unpredictable, but is pleasing as well.
Ms. Warner stated that growth indicates that the industry is on the right track for positive growth for the financial year and also flexibility of radio in competitive trading times is reflected in the sustained improvement.
