Following the environmental threats posed by the oil spill in Gulf of Mexico, the probe into the North Sea drilling rigs will tighten, as the UK Energy Secretary, Chris Huhne said that Government is bound to make sure that safety environmental protection regime worked efficiently. It has been informed that the inspections into the drilling rigs will be two folded.
Mr. Huhne stated that there was a need of being extra careful while investigating the deeper waters of Shetland.
Chief Executive of industry body Oil and Gas UK, Malcolm Webb said that the industry wants apt regulation provided by "strong and professional regulators".
The problems faced at the Gulf of Mexico were discussed by the new advisory board, which met for the first time in Aberdeen, earlier. The board consisted of oil Companies and unions.
The concerned Mexico spill initiated, when drilling rig that was being operated by BP blasted and conclusively, BP witnessed a decline fall in its share price.
