Bryers’ Matapia property on the block

As per the media reports, Bayleys is marketing a 2.4ha block of land dubbed Matapia Block, owned by Blue Chip property empire founder Mark Bryers, in a mortgage sale.

Though the land was not part of the Blue Chip Empire, it was privately owned by Mr. Bryers. It should be noted that Mr. Bryers dealt with a raft of charges in the Auckland High Court, failing to provide financial records of various companies last week.

He had hoped to change the vacant Matapia Block into a 200-bed, five star resort hotel and residential development, flanking the Gulf Harbour Country Club and Golf Course on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula north of Auckland.

The sale on instructions is being handled by Bayleys from receivers Deloitte, acting on behalf of the mortgagee FP Holdings (in receivership). It will be on 17th September that the tenders will be closed.

The freehold vacant site, which is situated on the eastern side of Pinecrest Drive at the intersection of Gulf Harbour Drive, is nearly 300 metres south of the town centre and is in two tiles.

The site, which falls within the Special 18 Gulf Harbour Zone, Marine Village Residential Policy Area, Precinct 2 - Country Club Village, is governed by the Rodney District Council proposed district plan 2000.

The sale is being handled by Michael Pleciak and Ben Bayley of Bayleys Auckland, with Bruce Truscott of Bayleys Orewa.
