Hostile Reply from Miners to Rudd’s Olive Branch

Hostile Reply from Miners to Rudd’s Olive BranchPrime Minister, Kevin Rudd had taken as an offer an olive branch to miners in Western Australia however, still received an unfriendly reaction as he tried to vend out the Government's super profits tax.

Speaking to a press club luncheon in Perth at which a lot of miners were present, Mr. Rudd gave an offer to set aside $6 billion that was collected under the tax for regional areas.

A throng of 2,000 protesters assembled outside to correspond with Mr. Rudd's appearance.

The Hancock iron ore billionaire, Gina Rinehart made an atypical appearance at the public meeting, standing on a flat-top truck at the same time demanding protesters to demand Mr. Rudd to axe the tax.

She said that negotiations would have taken a different shape if it was done so but now the damage has been done to the nationals up to a great degree, which is not acceptable.

During his press club speaking, Mr. Rudd called upon the name of Sir John Forrest, the previous Prime Minister of Western Australia and a long-distant family member of mining tycoon, Andrew Forrest.

The Premier promised that billions from the controversial tax system would be allocated for the boom of mining industry but no one gave warm response to his announcement.
