Virgin-Blue-John-BorghettiVirgin Blue has denied that the airline is giving up its position in the leisure market. It confirmed that the Company will maintain a strong presence in this market. This was confirmed by its CEO, John Borghetti. He also pointed out that the Company will increase competition to deliver better deals for business customers.

He declined to give further details but stressed that Virgin Blue will remain focused on the leisure market. He also emphasized that the Company will increase its focus on the business market in the coming days. It hopes to benefit by leveraging its low cost base in the market. Virgin is also confident of maintaining its lead over Qantas, in the Australian market.

Virgin is also expected to name a new passenger class which will have better cabins for its passengers, apart from separate airport lounges.

The Company hopes to increase focus on the business sector in the coming year. Experts feel that increased competition from other aviation Companies like Jetstar and Tiger Airways is pushing the air fares to record lows.

Virgin Blue also felt that challenging market conditions have put more pressure on its revenues, but expects the situation to improve in the coming days. It also confirmed that certain routes may be scrapped or downgraded in the coming days.

It will also be working together closely with more Companies and this will include retailers to promote its loyalty schemes.
