According to statistics, debit and credit cards spending in New Zealand has risen continuously in the fourth month. Consumers in New Zealand are positive about the future; thus, use their electronic cards in the best possible way.
The value of business of retailers has increased by 0.4%. This percentage was 0.3 % in April. This retail business data does not include the outlets related with the motor-vehicles. The business of durables, clothing have shown the biggest jump. However, the fuel business has dipped by 5.3%.
The data statistics revelation follows the hike in cash rate by the Central Bank Governor, Alan Bollard. The Governor has increased the cash rate to 2.75%. Earlier, it was 25 basis points. The data also shows that the increase in the household spending has been at a slower pace.
According to Reserve bank Data, the number of people paying with their own money was more in May. This led to 44% fall in the credit card transactions, but this was higher than the percentage of this time in the last year.
The payments through electric cards contribute about 61% of all retail transactions. This retail trend was not very popular from November 2009 to March 2010. However, the trend in the last two months has really become the favorite.
