Tasmanian Government under Pressure

Tasmania-CurrencyThe Government of Tasmania is under pressure of not taking enough steps to increase business confidence in the state. It is also being accused of not doing enough to increase business confidence by the Tasmanian Liberals.

A recent business survey has confirmed that business confidence has declined by 18% during the last quarter in the state. The main reasons for the negative sentiment are due to economic instability apart from increasing unemployment in the state.

Will Hodgman, a Liberal Leader pointed that the business confidence has been on the decline and he blamed the Government of not taking steps to increase the confidence of the business investors. He felt that, despite being in the power for more than a decade, the record of the current Government was dismal. He accused the Government of being very slow in taking steps to improve the condition of the economy in Tasmania.

But Attorney-General Lara Giddings defended the Government and maintained that the economic measures cannot be rushed and will take time to achieve results. The Government is also taking the views of all the stake holders to address these issues and improve the state of the economy.

In the latest survey, most of the Companies which were surveyed were not very optimistic about the future and the market conditions. The availability of credit has also declined considerably in the last few months.
