Sega announces Dreamcast classics for PSN, XBLA

Sega announces Dreamcast classics for PSN, XBLAIn an attempt to revive the sheer colorful arcade goodness, Sega Europe and Sega of America have announced that they intend bringing a number of signature titles from the Dreamcast console to the PlayStation Network (PSN) and Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA).

The first two games, which will likely mark their arrival this fall, will be Sonic Adventure, followed by Crazy Taxi – two of the best titles available for Dreamcast. Sonic probably will hit the markets to coincide with Dreamcast’s 11th anniversary.

Apparently one of the most much-loved consoles in history, Dreamcast first made its appearance in September 9, 1999. Dreamcast also brought along, for the first time ever, online support, as well as the addition of an online modem.

While both Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi will largely boast the same gameplay as the original Dreamcast classics, they will also be replete with some new enhancements and improvements, including new high-resolution visuals, online leaderboards, and surround sound; along with the requisite Trophies and Achievements.

Noting that the there have been fervent requests for making “Dreamcast classics available for download in today's digital market place,” Haruki Satomi, Sega’s VP of digital business, said: “The Dreamcast is fondly remembered by a large community of dedicated fans as a console that was ahead of its time in terms of graphics, quality and online gaming.”
