It has been stated by the Sydney Airport Chief Executive, Russell Balding that he believes the AirAsiaX will very soon be approved for initiating flights between Kuala Lumpur and Australia's major cities.
AirAsia is the long distance development of the Malaysian-based low-cost carrier and has been functioning since two and a half years. The carrier presently serves three Australian cities namely Melbourne, Perth and the Gold Coast.
After getting an approval from local authorities for making Sydney its fourth destination, it is also secured acceptance from the Sydney Airport.
Following the two green signals, the carrier is not being granted a nod by the Malaysian Government. The flights were to be started by July 1 but because of the halt, airline is aborting its plans.
Mr. Balding stated that the airport was exceptionally upset after it did not receive any flight form AirAsiaX.
The Sydney airport requested the Malaysian Government on the behalf of the airlines, that the flights should be permitted as it would increase the tourism prospects of both the countries.
Addressing the reporters at the official ceremony of achievement of the $500 million project of improvement of Sydney Airport's international terminal's departures hall, Mr. Balding said that they are “advancing arguments in a constructive way to the Malaysian Government” as the deal will be beneficial in terms of both tourism and the flow of customers.
