Three men accused of robbing four of the cities pharmacies have been arrested by the Police. These men were involved in robbing the pharmacies at gunpoint for the increasingly famous and addictive drug, OxyContin.
The men were identified by a bystander who noticed two of the robbers near the Logan Avenue pharmacy on Wednesday, while they were trying to get into a vehicle for fleeing.
Winnipeg Police Service Spokeswoman, Const. Natalie Aitken said that the bystander was very suspicious of the men and he at once made out that something was wrong.
Soon after the bystander informed the police about the offenders, two men were arrested on Larsen Avenue.
Third man was then later arrested at Kimberley Avenue and Gateway Road on Thursday.
During the investigation police also found a house in the 500 block of Gateway Road on Thursday. This house was full of $45,000 valued of pot plants.
Expressing surprise, Aitken said that prior to this incident; nothing of this kind has been ever seen. Also the city witnessed any attack on pharmacies for the first time, Aitken added.
Earlier also, doctors and pharmacists were warned that the increasing addiction of the drug might put them on risk, as proving the drug to everyone who asks for it will not be feasible.
