Following a much required victory form 13 years of work and the struggle of keeping the hospital away from a closure, Montfort Hospital stated that it will be expanding six more stories.
Lalonde, the lead fighter in the war with Conservative provincial Government for keeping the hospital functional, appreciated the expansion.
She added, that the win was not only of the hospital rather that it was of the community on the whole, as she was supported by the community, more than she expected.
She explained further that the expansion, apart from erecting six more levels will also encompass four floors for the Canadian Forces Health Service Centre.
Ontario Premier, Dalton McGuinty stated in a speech that since 1953, Montfort has been serving the ill people and that today the hospital will continue its duty with additional beds, additional staff and more services.
It is known that Montfort is the only French language teaching and French speaking hospital in Ontario. But it offers both the English and French services. This makes it the only bilingual hospital in the region.
Staffers of the hospitals also expressed their joy as they said that the expansion is kind of an honor work and that working with the institution is also a thing of pride.
