According to a recent report, there will be a car wash in Belleville, on Saturday. This will be done in order to muster support for the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Researchers reveal that cystic fibrosis is a deadly disease that affects thousands of people in Canada every year. It is the most prevalent genetic disorder affecting the young people in Canada. More than 3200 Canadians were affected by this disease in the year 2007.
Cystic Fibrosis affects digestive system and the lungs. It can also have an effect on the other parts of the body, like the pancreas. This disease results in deposition of mucus in the lungs. Thus, a patient whose lung is attacked by the disease finds it difficult to breathe. This mucus can also lead to infection and eventually, the lung is damaged.
The worst part is that the disease is incurable.
Shannon Graham, of Foxboro, suffers from this disease. She is only 20 years old. She has spent a great portion of her life in making sure that she gets timely respiratory treatment. Her treatment is of one hour duration and has to be repeated four times in a day.
Theresa Romano, Belleville Carstar Employee, disclosed that a sum of $1.7 million has been raised by the Canadian Franchise through various events. The funds will be diverted towards the help of patients suffering from this disease. The name of the event this year is “A Splash of Magic”.
