Sprint’s much-hyped ‘superphone’ – the recently-launched HTC EVO 4G, which supposedly is an Apple iPhone challenger – is already in the thick of complaints, with some of the early users reportedly having problems with the handset’s screen.
Going by an Engadget report, the users of the EVO are complaining that the glass screen of the handset appears to be separating from the device, thereby leading to light leakage. In addition, there are also some complaints about the responsiveness of the touchscreen – an issue that also plagued HTC’s Droid Incredible handset.
The EVO also reported a malfunction earlier this month when some users started receiving messages of “insufficient file permissions” while taking pictures and video, because of an anomaly in the 8 GB microSD card of the handset. The issue was however resolved by an over-the-air update released by Sprint.
Meanwhile, there have also been reports of the EVO’s poor battery life – an aspect, which according to MobileCrunch is a “deal-breaker” for the Sprint device, which is the first handset to run on Sprint’s 4G WiMax network.
The torrent of EVO glitches could possibly be bad news for Sprint, which has earlier made a bad bet on the Palm Pre. The June 4-released EVO was largely being seen as a game-changing device – boasting a high-resolution
4.3-inch touch-screen; a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor; and an 8-megapixel HD video and still camera, as well as a second 1.3-megapixel camera.
