It for the first time since January 2008 that Sony's machine has outsold all console rivals!
The credit for the console's topping the UK hardware sales charts, for the first time since January 2008, goes to the company's notable sales leap this week subsequent to the launch of the PS3 Slim on 1st September.
The increased hardware performance led to a notable boom in PS3 software sales, up 17 per cent in unit terms week-on-week - though they still lag behind both Xbox 360 and Wii.
A hike by 5% was seen in PS3 Software in value terms compared to the week before. However, Xbox 360 remains the most valuable software market in the UK.
ChartTrack specified, "In reality, sales of PS3 this week were 11x greater than the week before. Obviously people have been waiting for PS3 Slim. Sales of Xbox 360 were up 29 per cent in the same period."
