US President Mr. Barack Obama and his government are now facing the biggest environmental disaster in the history of US. Mr. Obama has asked his supporters and party to go for a new future of clean energy.
After visiting the affected areas of the oil spill at Golf of Mexico, the President has said to deploy every possible resource of government to clean up things, which includes 17,500 National Guard troops.
On his fourth visit to the affected areas, Mr. Obama is also visiting Florida, Alabama and Mississippi. BP has estimated the cost to clean up the oil spillage worth more than 1.6 billion dollars.
On Monday, the shares of the oil giant BP once again fell down sharply by 9% both in New York and London.
The directors also met on Monday to discuss about the dividend payment cuts to the share holders, which they are doing because of extreme pressure from US government. BP had placed a cap on the damaged well earlier this month and it has been collecting 15,000 barrel oil per day.
