The three-way scuffle between the bigwig gaming console makers – Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony – has apparently taken a new turn, with all three of them using the ongoing Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) event in Los Angeles to introduce their new motion controllers.
During its nearly two hour-long pre-show E3 press conference on Tuesday, Sony - the last conference of the three companies to showcase its products - basically highlighted its push toward 3D entertainment as well as its forthcoming PlayStation Move motion controllers. In addition, Sony also announced some strategic partnerships, games, and online roll-outs.
The Sony press event kicked off with Sony computer entertainment group’s CEO Kazuo Hirai showcasing 3D demonstrations of upcoming game titles ‘Killzone 3’ and ‘Crysis 2.’ It was also revealed that some other titles coming to
3D will include – ‘MLB 10: The Show’; ‘The Fight: Lights Out’; ‘Mortal Kombat Fatality’; ‘Gran Turismo 5’; and ‘The Sly Collection.’
With its wand-like PlayStation Move motion controller, Sony will mark its foray into the motion-based gaming arena, competing with Nintendo’s Wii and Microsoft’s yet-to-come Kinect.
According to Sony, 15-20 titles will be available at the time of launch of the PlayStation Move; the cost structure of which includes - $99 for the wand, button controller and a game; or $49.99 and $29.99 respectively for the wand and the button controller separately; or else $399 with a PlayStation console and game.
