Overall Sales Dip in Canada in April

Overall Sales Dip in Canada in AprilAs per the data released by Statistics Canada, the retail sales in the country were on the rise in April, surging by nearly 16.7%, as against last year's records for the same month.

However, on a disappointing note, the sales in the wholesale category have reported a 3.1% dip during the month, falling against the figures obtained in the previous month.

Doug Elliott, the publisher of the Sask Trends Monitor newsletter, said that on the whole, the sale in the retailing sector has been dreary.

"There isn't too much exciting going on. Sales are up over the fairly low level from a year ago", said Elliot.

He further said that Saskat-chewan has reported an increase in the wholesale sales in April against the results in March.

Throughout Canada, the wholesale sales rose by 9.7% during the month.

According to a Statistics Canada analyst, the dip in the sales has been enhanced by the severe drop in sales in automobile and automobile parts sectors, during March and April.

Another cause for the drop in the sales is the decrease in the demands of imported goods, which led to a dip in the value of Dollar.
