Retail figures getting jitters over fiscal cutsThe UK retail sales volumes inclined in the month of May by six times at the pace forecasted by the City, pumped by the demand for televisions due to the football World Cup.

According to the Office for National Statistics the sales volumes plunged due to the seasonal adjusting of 0.6% in May. But the City had the forecast of a 0.1% month-on-month increase.

But then the ONS reviewed the same back and revised the last month's figures to depict the sales volumes leaving it unchanged between March and April, which has the previous estimates of 0.3%.

The retail sales volumes is getting acceleration on yearly basis via downwardly-revised 1.3% in April to 2.2% in May which is considered the fastest pace since November 2009.

However the sales figure in the household goods category jumped to 1.7% month-on-month basis in May. The sales of electrical goods were sturdy and waving the inclined demand for flat-screen televisions. Also a 1% month-on-month footing in the food sales in May has depicted the sharpest inclination in this category since last June.

Although in the fourth quarter of previous year, the UK economy departed out of a deep recession which had hovered for six quarters and was snipped by the loose behavior in the global financial sector.
