The 13-year career of MARK McInnes's stellar with David Jones has come to a hideous end.
After becoming enmeshed in a sexual harassment complaint lodged by a 25-year-old female staffer, the Chief Executive has been expelled from the top-end retailer.
With a payout of almost $2 million, Mr. McInnes is supposed to walk away from the company, notwithstanding acknowledging yesterday he had behaved in a manner, improper of the high standard estimated of a Chief Executive Officer.
He said "As a result of this conduct, I have offered my resignation to the David Jones board and we have agreed on the mutual termination of my employment with the company, effective immediately".
Both DJs and Mr. McInnes, who were Chief Executive for seven years, were avowed to discretion so elements remain hazy about his conduct at two off-site staff functions ,one late last month and another about 10 days ago.
The member of staff, who at rest works in the retailer's marketing department, is assumed to have snubbed Mr. McInnes's proceeds at the first function.
After the second, more current occurrence, she told her manager and the topic was referred to the Company's human resources division.
Mr. McInnes, 44, was told of the grievance the next day, after which he spoke to DJs Chairman, Robert Savage, who then informed the Board.
