Samsung ‘Galaxy S’ Android handsets likely headed to multiple US carriers

According to a PCMag report, Samsung’s recently-sent press invite for a June 29 event largely pertains to the unveiling of the company’s Galaxy S line of Android smartphones – which it officially introduced in March.

The invitation, which bears the Galaxy S logo, specifically seeks the attendance of the invites to the event where Samsung Mobile will “unveil a new class of brilliant Android smartphones”; thereby indicating that more than one handset is in the offing.

Earlier this week, Samsung introduced the Captivate – its first Galaxy S handset running on the AT&T network. The key features of the Captivate include a 1Ghz Samsung Hummingbird processor; 5 megapixel camera; 16 GB of built-in memory; HD video recording; surround sound; an accelerometer and gyroscope for 3D motion sensing.

Broadly speaking, Samsung’s Galaxy S line of handsets will feature a 1Ghz processor; the 20 percent brighter Super AMOLED screens, with sunlight reflection reduced by as much as 80 percent; and 20 percent improved battery life.

Incidentally, when Samsung initially launched the Galaxy S line, it had revealed its intentions to release the handsets on all US carriers – and the forthcoming event may just see the company making such an announcement.
