With the Microsoft Xbox 360 Slim having already hit the stores in its $299 configuration late last week, the company, during a recent internal marketing Q&A session, inadvertently disclosed its plans to release the earlier-confirmed $199-priced slim version of the gaming console this autumn.
The redesigned ‘Slim’ versions of the Xbox 360 were announced a few days back at Microsoft’s E3 2010 Press Conference, where the company said that it expected the ‘Slim’ versions to be practically more problem-free because of the device’s reduced complexity, and lower power consumption – the new Xbox 360 uses nearly 50 percent less power than the original Xbox 360.
While the last-week-released slim model features a 250GB hard drive and internal Wi-Fi, there has been official disclosure about the specifications of the cheaper slim version scheduled for “fall” release. However, rumors have it that the forthcoming slim model will have a smaller hard drive and no internal Wi-Fi.
In addition, Microsoft had also confirmed at the E3 show that the new ‘Slim’ versions will also come bundled with Kinect – the company’s new motion controller. Though there have been no revelations about the price points of the Kinect bundle too, there are speculations galore that the bundle will be $100 more than the Xbox, as some retail outlets already have price points populated in their pre-order systems.
