Swan Refuses to Take Names

Wayne-SwanFederal Treasurer, Wayne Swan has repudiated to name the miners he claims are using ‘strongarm tactics ‘to nullify industry hold up for the Government's resource super profits tax.

Mr. Swan accused some industry players of trying to hush Companies who back the tax and said that miners, who shore up the tax, are being vetoed from speaking out.

The opposition however, says that the statement is a stain on the mining industry and that he should name the miners he has been talking about.

Tony Abbott, a leader from the opposition said that Mr. Swan should fabricate proof, or apologize to the industry and its leaders. But still, during question time, Mr. Swan refused to take names.

"This is information that has been given to me confidentially. I then went on to say that it is well known to many opposite, also of many in the gallery, that there has been strongarm tactics that have been used in the industry”, he said.

Mr. Swan said that he was not backing down from his statement. The opposition has been repeatedly asking him to take names but for long he hasn’t and they say that the matter is going out of hands.
