While announcing the official release of its Flash Player 10.1 for Mobile on Tuesday, Abode said that the product will become available as a final production launch for Android-based handsets and tablets once users are able to upgrade to Android 2.2 ‘Froyo’ version. The desktop version of Flash Player 10.1 for Mac began shipping earlier this month after over six months of beta testing.
Pitching the Flash Player 10.1 for Mobile as the first launch that that aims at bringing “full Web across desktops and devices,” Abode said that Flash’s mobile version has also been released to platform partners for being supported on devices based on a number of operating systems including - BlackBerry, webOS, future versions of Windows Phone, LiMo, Symbian, and MeeGo.
Some of the forthcoming Android-based handsets likely to support both Android 2.2 and Flash Player 10.1 in the near future include the Dell Streak, Samsung Galaxy S, Google Nexus One, HTC Desire, HTC Incredible, HTC EVO, Motorola Droid, and Motorola Milestone.
