Auckland’s Bridgecorp Directors Charged by SFO

Rod-Petricevic-Rob-RoestAt the High Court of Auckland, additional charges have been filed today, against earlier Bridgecorp Directors, Rod Petricevic and Rob Roest, by the Crown. Last month also, Petricevic and Roest were under charges by the SFO for allegedly exploiting $1.8 million of Bridgecorp funds to buy and preserve the Medici, a sumptuousness yacht.

Petricevic had been additionally charged by the SFO for making deceptive payments of $1.2 million to a consultancy industry. This business was handled by his private associate Janita Wright, who had been recruited to endow with marketing, database management and an after hour call centre services.

The SFO had file charges because it claimed that this business was entirely a ‘sham’. However, Petricevic and Roest have yet, not pleaded guilty in front of the court, for the charges filed on them.

In the previous month, SFO Director, Adam Feeley said, “There had been ‘extensive and exhaustive investigations' into the failure of Bridgecorp. This investigation had been critical to both the wider investigations into failed finance companies and the SFO's long-term strategy for fighting corporate fraud”.

Now, the two Directors have been charged under the Crimes Act and Companies Act by the SFO. The trial has been scheduled to commence on July 4, 2011.
